Good Friday Walk of Witness
Around 30 people gathered at 10.00am for a united Good Friday service at the Glastonbury Methodist Church. Following the service, a silent Walk of Witness took place, accompanied by a wooden cross. The procession moved down the High Street and paused at various churches and sacred locations for prayer along the way.
The first stop was the Glastonbury URC Church, followed by the War Memorial outside St John's Church. The procession then proceeded into Magdalene Street, stopping outside the entrance to the Abbey Ruins. Continuing along Magdalene Street, the group stopped at St Margaret’s Chapel and then at the Shrine of Our Lady of Glastonbury, where our parish priest, Fr Dominic, led the assembly in prayer.
The procession continued down St Mary’s Walk, passing the site where Pilgrimage Masses were held in the past, before entering Fairfield Gardens. After a short walk up Benedict Street, the procession stopped at St Benedict’s Church. The next stop was the Market Cross, where a peace vigil is held every Friday at noon.
The procession then continued up the High Street and entered St John's Churchyard, where the cross was placed in the ground, and final prayers were said.
